Parent workshops hailed a success

An incredible number of parents/carers visited school recently for a week of ‘Parent Workshops’ designed to give much better insight into the learning and education their loved ones are receiving.

Staggered throughout the week, each year group had an opportunity to hear from teachers, and then work with their children themselves to see what impact extra engagement can have.

The workshops were focused on raising parents awareness of reading for pleasure. Year 6 teacher and English Lead Mrs Burrows says they were delighted with how many parents got involved:

“It was genuinely lovely to see so many parents and families attend, to find out how they can support their child. We want to do all we can to foster and maintain a love of reading for pleasure.

Research says reading for 20 minutes a day has huge benefits and hopefully we were able to share some of the things we work on in school.”
